It’s AGM (Annual General Meeting) time once again here at OVFM and that means no films this week but plenty of opinions will no doubt be shared all the same.
If you’ve never attended an AGM before, basically the Legion Of Doom (aka the committee members) sit at one end of the room behind a table, sacrifice a frozen chicken in the name of the dark lord then talk down to us mere mortals about how great they are and why they deserve to remain in power. Then anyone with suggestions for ideas for film themes, club activities and other ways to help improve or benefit the club is invited to submit them for approval then shot on sight for daring to do the LOD’s job for them. Finally our memories are all wiped and we carry on as normal until next year.
At least I think that’s how it goes … I can’t seem to remember much about last years AGM….
So, if you have an idea, concern or opinion about OVFM then now is the time to make your voice heard.
*EDIT* – Also don’t forget to bring your order forms and payment for the “Blitz & Bananas” DVD!!
See you then!
Well this year’s AGM has been and gone.
The big news is that Peter Lodge has stepped down from the committee and voted on board as an ordinary member is Sam Brown, our youngest club member. That doesn’t mean he can boss us oldies around though!!
A few suggestions for club projects were proffered, some of which were interesting while others were down right scary. Mine of course were awesome and eagerly received by my fellow club members!
The big surprise of the night was our chairman Chris “Cats” Coulson making an appearance having just arrived back in Old Blighty from his very recent trip to Romania (see the “Chris Goes To Romania” thread for more details and videos).
So, the wheels are now in motion for the new suggestions to be implemented and we look forward to another exciting 12 months for OVFM!
Just as a minor point of fact, Sam Brown is fully entitled to boss around any oldies who didn’t step up and put themselves forward to stand on the comittee.
Like he did. 🙂
If you don’t like being bossed around, VOLUNTEER! 🙂
I thought you had to be nominated to be part of the LOD and not just decide you want power? <_<
Nope. Anyone can just step up and any number of people will nominate you.
Thank you for voting me in again as your OVFM Competition Organiser. I enjoy the challenge of the job although it does get a bit hectic at times.Freddy deals with external competitions.
I would like to point out that the committee is open to ideas from members all year round not just at the AGM although some things have to be approved by the membership.
