POEM

 

The time has arrived to share with us the fruits of your labours as we screen your films made to a poem. We announced this project a couple of months ago so you’ve had plenty of time to retrieve that dusty old book of sonnets from the back of the wardrobe, or look up your favourite limericks to get some inspiration for this project.

As usual we ask a little cooperation from everyone bringing a film to the meeting to PLEASE REPLY TO THIS POST in the comments/reply section below, letting us know the film’s run time, media format (DVD, Blu-ray, USB/Memory stick), file format if using the latter (MP4, MKV, AVI, etc.) and picture ratio (4:3 or 16:9). This is a great help for us when planning the evening out and helping things run smoothly so if you could do us this courtesy it would be greatly appreciated.

    Teething troubles 2mins30s
    All 4.3

  7. Hopefully I will have a comedy film based on the theme but its 7-8 minutes long so only to be shown if there is time (which looks likely from the running times above 🙂 )

    Narrow Miss 4:3 2m by us and
    Film to a Poem 4:3 2m 30s by Pat Palmer

    Both in .mp4 format on the same Usb stick

  9. Last night we ended up watching an impressive (and maybe unprecedented) 16 films pertaining to the theme of Poem, though most were from our archives, but I am sure not everyone had seen them before and for others, it might have been a while since they saw them.

    We kicked off with “The Donkey” from Kath Goodwin, followed by an club film “Dustin’ Time”. Barbara Darby (not that one) provided three films, “The Kentish Village Of Otford”, “A Village In Kent With A Pond” (I wonder where that could be?) and “Teething Troubles”, which were followed by an entry from fellow Kemsing Mafia member Jim Morton-Robertson entitled “Tired As A Newt”.

    John and Ann Epton supplied two films for us – “Film To A Poem” and “Near Miss”, then we saw a collaboration between Colin Jones and Ron WIlliams, titled “Memory” about… I forget. Taking a slightly different tact was Graham Sinden for the last film of the first half, “New Poet Laureate”.

    After the the break and change in equipment, we went deep into the club archive, for three more films from Colin Jones, “Uncles”, “Pulling The Birds” and “Nimrod”, before letting someone else have a moment in the spotlight, namely Mike Shaw’s “Lie Back”, Derek Allen’s “60 Years” and finally “From A Railway Carriage” from Bob Wyeth.

    We would have had one more film but Jane was unable to complete her film in time, which was a disappointment as I was curious about the Man from Nantucket…
