OVFM Club Meeting Tuesday October 27th 2015

TT_15_R5

This week’s club meeting is the fifth and final qualifying round of the annual Top Ten Competition. For the results of the first four rounds please click HERE.

Last time we rebounded from the single entry of round three with five entries, a record for this year’s competition. It appears to be an  unofficial tradition that members leave their filmmaking until late in the year, so perhaps this will manifest itself with a huge response to this closing round?

The names drawn to submit an entry for this round are:

Bob Wyeth

Alan Smith

John & Sylvia Greengrass

Annabelle Lancaster

Mike Shaw

Bob Vine

Brian Pfeiffer

Hugh Darrington

Peggy Parmenter

As ever if you can’t make your designated round be sure to let Brenda know ahead of time or you have a film ready early, please bring it along as chances are it will be welcomed for screening time permitting.

And if you are bringing a film this week then PLEASE reply to this post in the comments/reply section below, letting us know the film’s run time, format (DVD, Blu-ray, Mini DV) and picture ratio (4:3 or 16:9). This is a great help for us when planning the evening out and helping things run smoothly so if you could do us this courtesy it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and good luck to everyone who enters a film!

  1. If you plan to bring a film, a note to that effect would be welcome. It helps to plan the evening especially if there are a good number of late entries. Length of film would be useful to know

  2. I will be bringing my film to this meeting. It is blue ray top spec and runs for 3 minutes.

  3. Sadly I cannot make the evening itself as I can’t get the time off work but I will make sure my film does by dropping it off to Freddy at the weekend. It’s only DVD quality (16:9) and is 3 minutes long. I have also sent it in as a South OVFM entry into the upcoming North vs South competition, hope that is okay.

  4. I will be bringing a film for the Top Ten. Run time 11 mins; Format 4:3, on DVD

Thanks for all the hard work you do Lee and Andy

  5. To close this year’s qualifying rounds for the Top 10, we had seven entries, the largest response yet in 2015.

We opened with “Bringing The Dream Alive” by our Chairman Simon “Snapper “Earwicke, detailing the building of a bespoke art studio-cum-gallery for a local artist.

Next Barbara Walker gave us one of her trademark comedy shorts with “Commute” followed by Tony Keable’s helpful guide in “Dog Training”.

Staying with the animal theme, Anna Littler shared an almost festive musical opus in the form of “Kitty Xmas” (no surprises who helped he with that!).

Bob Vine’s “Broken” was another example of his wild imagination and penchant for SFX and will make for a strong entry in this year’s N vs S competition.

Brian Pfeiffer took us on a tour of “Yellowstone Park” and Mike Shaw brought the evening to a close with a cheeky visual poem “Lie Back”.

So that concludes the main rounds of the Top 10 for this year. The final will be held in January and the results revealed at the Oscars in March.

Thank you to everyone to entered a film this year and good luck for the final! 🙂

    1. Ta for the report Lee.

Putting my own offering aside I think the standard of entries last night was really high. Give yourselves a slap on the back everyone!

  6. Thanks to everyone who entered a film in this years TopTen,you gave us some very entertaining evenings.
Some of the scores are very close
The final looks like it will be an excellent evening.
